Question 1

What is Backline?

Accepted Answer

A direct-to-fan platform where musicians sell memberships, exclusive releases, private gigs, community access and paid DM replies from a single artist page.

Question 2

How do artist accounts differ from fan accounts?

Accepted Answer

Artist accounts include a Studio for tiers, uploads, offerings, gigs, community, street teams and messages. Fan accounts include subscriptions, unlocks and messages. Account access is currently limited to the Backline Beta waiting list.

Question 3

What can an artist sell?

Accepted Answer

Membership tiers, digital releases (demos, stems, videos, livestreams), physical and limited drops, 1:1 services such as lessons or mixing, cameos, private gig packages and paid DM replies.

Question 4

How do memberships work for fans?

Accepted Answer

You subscribe to an artist tier and immediately unlock everything gated at or below that tier, plus any member-only community space. You can cancel or resume from your dashboard at any time.

Question 5

How do paid DMs work?

Accepted Answer

An artist sets a price and a reply window. Fans pay to send a message; top-tier members can be given free access. If the artist misses the window, the message is marked unanswered so it can be refunded.

Question 6

Do you take a cut?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Backline takes a flat 7% platform cut on what you sell, and you keep 93%. Pricing is always set by the artist. Payments in this build are simulated for demonstration — no live card processing is connected yet — and full payout terms will be published before real transactions are enabled.

Question 7

Can I delete my account or my uploads?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Artists can unpublish or delete any offering, tier or file from the Studio, and any account holder can request full deletion via the contact page.
