These terms cover using Backline as an artist or a fan. See also our privacy policy.
01Accounts
You must give accurate details and keep your credentials secure. Artist accounts claim a unique handle; we may reclaim handles that impersonate someone else. You are responsible for activity on your account.
02Ownership of uploads
Artists keep all rights in the music, artwork, video and text they upload. By publishing on Backline you grant us a limited licence to host, display and deliver that material to the fans you have granted access to, for as long as it remains published.
03Your responsibilities as an artist
Only upload work you have the rights to sell, describe offerings accurately, honour the perks in your tiers and pledge rewards, ship physical items you have taken payment for, and reply to paid messages within the window you set.
04Memberships and purchases
Memberships recur until cancelled and can be cancelled by the fan at any time; access runs to the end of the paid period. One-off purchases give the access described in the listing. Digital unlocks are generally non-refundable once accessed, except where an artist fails to deliver.
05Pledges and bookings
Gig pledges and project pledges are commitments towards a target set by the artist. If a target is not met or a campaign is cancelled, the artist is responsible for making pledgers whole. Private gig enquiries are requests, not confirmed bookings, until the artist confirms.
06Community and messages
Artists moderate their own forums and street teams. Harassment, hate speech, spam, doxxing and illegal material are prohibited anywhere on the platform and may result in removal or account closure.
07Payments and platform fee
Backline charges a 10% platform fee on artist earnings from memberships, purchases, pledges, bookings and paid messages; the artist keeps the remaining 90% before any payment processing costs. Payment flows in this build are simulated for demonstration purposes and no live card processing is connected. Full payment, fee and payout terms will be published here before real transactions are enabled.
08Availability and liability
The service is provided as is. We work to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform.
09Ending the agreement
You can stop using Backline and request deletion at any time. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practical.
